My design process is never neat or perfectly organized—it’s always a bit messy. But I’ve learned to fall into that mess as it can be where the best ideas begin to take shape.
To keep myself from overthinking, I start with lots and lots of sketches. Super quick ones, in fact! These aren’t meant to be polished or perfect—they’re just a way to get ideas flowing without letting perfectionism get in the way. By keeping things loose and spontaneous, I can take the pressure off and focus on simply creating.
Not every sketch leads to something great, and that’s okay. The process is about working through the grit—the unrefined, sometimes clunky ideas—to discover something on the other side. It’s a journey of trial and error, and each step, even the missteps, brings me closer to a concept I wouldn’t have found otherwise.
